Philanthropist of the Year Award
Eligibility and Nomination Criteria
An individual, non-profit organization, staff or board member of the Burlington Community Foundation may submit a nomination for the Philanthropist of the Year award. Nominees must be residents of Burlington.
The nomination should include the following information with specific examples from the nominator’s organization or personal experience:
- Description of participation and impact that gift support has made in Burlington.
- Evidence of leadership in philanthropy (board member, matching gifts)
- Demonstrated history of giving
- Involvement in volunteering
- The community impact the nominee has made
Submission Criteria
Each nomination should include the nomination and criteria form, the narrative, and any supporting documents. The narrative should be 1-3 pages in length (12 point format with 1" margins). Supporting documents are only accepted to support the narrative and should include no more than six supporting documents. Do not introduce new information in the supporting documents.
The Awards Selection Committee, chaired by the Events Chair, will be made up of five community members (1 United Way representative, 2 non-profit organizations, 2 for-profit organizations). The Chair will have no vote except to break a tie. The Awards Selection Committee will be asked to review candidates based on the eligibility criteria set out above.
